I’ve spent the last few days trying to completely overhaul three sections of this website – Books, Colour and Games. Hopefully they look and function better now. Having pulled my hair out and gritted my teeth for the past 72 hours, I’m not sure I do.
I was not made to code. I was not made to organise events. I was not made to entertain groups of 300+ children and I was definitely not made to self-promote. I was made to sit in an armchair with a cat nearby, dreaming up stories and writing them down. I can even do it all in my pyjamas without having brushed my hair. It’s quite an art.
Still, I’ve become quite a lot better at all those other things since getting published. If you want to succeed at this author malarkey, you have to. I don’t mind. I like adding new tools to my belt, and I suspect tackling the things I most dread is good for me. (Although can somebody please remind me of this next month when I go into hospital for my big operation?)
In the meantime, onwards. Website conquered, I must now tidy the cupboard under the stairs in an attempt to reach the box of Christmas decorations. There may be spiders, but I’m made of strong stuff. And besides, I have two cats to help me. Right, Ernie? Ernie…?
