I haven’t managed to post anything on here for a while, partly because I haven’t had an awful lot to say beyond ‘everything’s ticking along just fine’, and partly because that ticking hasn’t stopped.
Vaccuum the house. Tick.
Feed the kittens. Tick.
Feed the kids. Tick.
Keep the kids amused. Tick.
Mop the floor. Tick.
Do the grocery shopping. Tick.
Water the garden. Tick.
Keep fit. Tick.
Put a load of washing away. Tick.
Put another load on. Tick.
Construct flat-pack furniture. Tick.
Worry about upcoming operation. Tick.
Empty the litter tray. Tick.
Stop the kids fighting. Tick.
Litter tray again. Tick.
Get some proper work done. Er…
etc., etc.
I don’t mean to complain – I’d sooner be doing all of this stuff than facing any of the real challenges I see people dealing with every day on the news. But CRIKEY I could use a break from all the ticking. So I’m going to start tocking instead.
Put the mop down. Tick.

Let the washing pile up a day longer. Tick.
Read a book. TOCK.
Water the garden. Tick.
Now sit in it. TOCK.
Take a holiday from Sainsbury’s. Tick.
